The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 is one of the thinnest and lightest mini laptops on the market and with several color options, the Mini 10 is also a very attractive notebook.
The lid is rounded and sports a glossy finish and comes in white, green, blue, pink or red. Under the hood is a black keyboard that is offset by a smooth silver palm rest and textured trackpad.
Measuring just 10.3 x 7.2 x 1.3 inches, the Mini 10 is very compact and weighs only 2.6 pounds so it can easily slide into a purse.
The keyboard on the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 is surprisingly large and typing is comfortable. The keys offer good, springy feedback. The right and left mouse buttons are integrated into the touchpad itself on the Mini 10 and it is easy to use and enjoyable. The touchpad also features Elantech's multi-touch gestures which include pinching to zoom, rotating and two-finger scrolling.
On the left side of the Mini 10 you will find an USB port and a 3 in 1 memory card reader as well as a Kensington lock slot. The right side has the Ethernet jack, two more USB ports, an HDMI port and the mic and headphone jacks.
The 1.3 megapixel webcam is above the display and ensures that your videoconferencing partners will see you clearly. The stereo speakers are hidden below the front edge of the Mini 10 and provide loud and full sound.
The Mini 12 features an 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z530 Silverthorne-class processor and it is coupled with 1GB of RAM and Windows XP for the operating system. The Mini 12 is snappy and responsive.
The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 has a spacious 160 GB, 5,400 rpm hard drive which can boot up Windows XP in 50 seconds, which is five seconds faster than what the average netbook can do.
The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 is a compelling mini laptop, improving on all aspects of the Dell Inspiron Mini 9. With the compact form and nearly full keyboard, it is a great, affordable and high-performing little laptop.
