Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4036 Review

Toshiba is one of the leading notebook manufacturers in the world today, and with products such as the L645D-S4036, it hardly a surprise as to why. This model from Toshiba is housed in a sleek case, which is a high gloss “fusion” finish.

Whip this out in public, and you’ll have people thinking it’s a top of the line, up to date laptop ready for anything. Before we get too excited though – let’s take a closer look at some of the more important details.

Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4036 Specifications and Features

CPU, Memory, Hard Drive
The L645D-S4036 comes with a triple core CPU, which is great for when you are running programs which demand a lot of processing power. Such programs include video applications, graphic design programs, and the like.

As far as memory is concerned, no expense has been spared, with 4GB of DDR3 Ram coming standard with the machine. DDR3 is one of the latest developments in memory technology, coming in behind DDR4 which was only just launched to the market.

The hard drive on the notebook is a 320GB SATA drive, which isn’t an incredible amount of space, but should still satisfy the moderate computer user. Most laptops these days have between 300 and 1000GB in space, so this is at the lower end of the spectrum.

Graphics & Display
This laptop has a dedicated graphics card – in the form of an ATI Radeon HD 4250, which is a great component. The HD 4250 is at the top of the field when it comes to graphics processing speed, so the latest games should be no concern for this machine.

Additionally, because the screen is a bit smaller than your usual notebook – at 14″ wide – there is less demand on the graphics processor to render massive pictures and images.

Software
Most of the latest Toshiba software has been included in this device. The Toshiba media controller offers a console-like experience when it comes to controlling media. This is great if you want a smooth, clean interface – but not the Windows Media Center, which is quite resource heavy.

Additionally, the Toshiba Bulletin Board and ReelTime further enhance the user experience by making tasks as easy as can be.

Windows 7 Home Premium edition is the operating system installed on this device – which is the most advanced Windows system ever created.

Our Rating of the Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4036
The Toshiba L645D-S4036 is priced under the $600 mark, which places it in to the “moderately priced” basket of notebooks. With 3 cores and 4GB of Ram, we think you’re definitely getting your money’s worth with the L645D-S4036.

It’s great to see that this model has a dedicated ATI Radeon graphics card, and this means that all of the latest and most demanding games will run with ease. Perhaps we would have liked to have seen a larger hard drive, as 320GB is fairly average – but then again we can’t expect perfection every time. Overall, the L645D-S4036 gets 5 stars from us.
